Climate change

1.  A global problem - 3 strategies

Climate change is a global problem that can only be solved in effective and efficient global cooperation. However, there are substantial differences of opinion about risks, urgency, effectiveness and feasibility of the measures to be taken. - According to question 10 of the questionnaire on our new Europe, all Europeans throughout Europe are invited to choose among the following 3 climate strategies:

  1. Climate apocalypse: According to Greta Thunberg and the climate youth, striking in schools around the world, «everything must change now!» - A radical, immediate, total transformation of society and the economy is required, but also of the lifestyle and behavior of everyone, from eating to travelling!

  2. Business as usual! - The big annual UN climate conferences must continue and the ambitious goals of the Paris climate agreement must be realized in all countries! For this purpose, the EU wants to play a leading role in the field of climate change, too, by transforming its economy with the multi-billion euro “Green Deal” and "Fit for 55" to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and a reduction of its greenhouse gase emissions of 55% by 2030 compared to 1990.
  3. Democratic Citizens Alliance for a comprehensive and effective, global climate program: We Europeans everywhere throughout Europe shall consistently and with democratic means work on all levels for an efficient, decentralized, subsidiary, global climate strategy, to achieve a maximum reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions:
  • As consumers - by changing our lifestyle;
  • As citizens - by campaigning for a sustainable and efficient energy and climate policy at every political level: in our community, region, nation and in Europe;
  • As citizens of of this one world - by campaigning for an efficient global UN / IPCC climate monitoring as well as for a global CO2 emissions trading system and an international «climate cent» (according to the successful Swiss programme) of willing countries on fossil fuels to finance the most effective and most efficient global climate protection measures, especially in the poorest areas of the world, to achieve the highest global CO2 emission reductions.

2.  Maximum effect - citizens in power!

In our new democratic, diverse, prospering, cooperating, sustainable Europe (scenario EU* - our European peace project), we citizens across Europe - desperate, worried, and skeptical about climate change - shall decide, i.a., on the European energy and climate policy in referenda and thus contribute significantly to solving the global climate crisis:

  1. The politically integrated core of our new Europe offers to the supporters of Greta Thunberg and climate youth an ideal platform for the practical realization of their radical demands with democratic means.
  2. The supporters of the EU's and Europe's global leadership, in particlualar in the climate area, can enforce their view in referenda, as members of the politically integrated core of our new Europe.
  3. All the supporters of an optimal global climate strategy can assume their own responsibility for the climate in a global democratic citizens' alliance, both personally and on all political levels - community, region, nation, Europe and the world by campaigning for an efficient European and global, climate-oriented cooperation, especially in research, education, transport and trade, and for the worldwide most effective climate protection program. - The climate crisis is thus becoming an opportunity for democracy and for our new Europe, and our new Europe an opportunity for all convinced Europeans and for an optimal global climate strategy!
