1. Why should I vote on "Our New Europe"?
If you vote on Our New Europe, if you motivate your friends, and if many citizens throughout Europe do the same, you can give the impetus for a new, more democratic Europe. Europe's future is in your hands!
2. Do I have a right to vote on "Our New Europe"?
All citizens of the 51 participating European countries from Reykjavik to Vladivostok are entitled to vote on "Our New Europe"! - Members and non-members of the EU!
3. Do I have to answer all the questions of the questionnaire?
No! You are completely free to participate and to answer only the questions you like. You have a right to vote, but no obligation at all to do so! Of course, you have to answer at least one question of the questionnaire.
4. Which personal data are required by "Our New Europe"?
Your ballot (questionnaire) only requires the name of the country in which you live as a personal information. If you want to sign the "Petition for a Europe close to its citizens" , you also have to enter your surname, first name, place of residence amd e-mail address.
5. How will my personal data and my answers be dealt with?
Your answers will be counted and the results published, aggregated by country, without being personalized (Results).
Your personal data will not be disclosed; "Our New Europe" only may publish the "Petition for a Europe close to its citizens" with your signature (last and first name, city).
6. What are the implications of me signing the Petition?
The petition asks for a democratic, subsidiary, flexible and diverse Europe, close to its citizens.
Your signature will not imply any legal obligation. You however agree to campaign actively for your Europe, and that the petition may be published with your signature.
7. What are the objectives of "Our New Europe"?
The main objective is a high turnout in all 51 European countries participating in the referendum: as a first step 1 million votes all over Europe till the end of 2018! To achieve this goal, your vote and your campgaign are required to motivate your friends and acquaintances to participate as well (snowball effect with e-mails and on the social media).
8. What is the significance of the scenarios EU+, EU- and EU* in "Our New Europe"?
The three scenarios EU+, EU- and EU* correspond with the main current views on the future for Europe: an expansion, reduction or a reform of the EU. You are asked to choose the scenario that most closely matches your opinion.
9. What do the terms "democracy", "subsidiarity" and "federalism" mean in "Our New Europe"?
The definitions of these terms vary widely. "Our New Europe" understands them essentially in the sense prevailing in Switzerland.
10. Legal significance of "Our New Europe"?
The online survey "Our New Europe" has no legal significance. It is, however, striving for a political impact with a large partipation and a clear message, in order to create a more democratic Europe and to implement the European peace project.
11. Is "Our New Europe" neutral vis-à-vis the European Union?
Our New Europe" covers virtually the entire spectrum of opinions regarding the EU: "More of the same", up to the United States of Europe (EU+); Brexit, i.e. leaving the Union, or not joining it (EU-); and the transformation of the EU by the citizens (EU*).
The scenario EU+ has always been advocated by "Brussels" and the overwhelming majority of all EU politicians; EU- by the growing number of EU opponents and EU-critical parties. Only the citizens' Europe EU* has no powerful lobby.
All citizens throughout Europe, whatever they think of the EU, are now invited, for the first time, to express their opinion on the future of Europe - not only with the Brexit question "EU yes or no?", but also with the most important question of the scenario EU*: "What kind of Europe do you want?".
